In the national congress about biomechanics and biomaterials XXXVII Congreso de la Sociedad Ibérica de Biomecánica y Biomateriales (SIBB 2014). Dr. Salvador Llana (IBV) presented the main results obtained in RUNSAFER. Through the presentation with the title “Dos ejemplos de investigación en Biomecánica aplicada al calzado: zapatillas inestables para marcha y las zapatillas instrumentadas para running”, the analysis of the biomechanical parameters measured by means of the measuring system were showed.

Read moreFraunhofer has presented in MEDICA 2014 the prototype of RUNSAFER system. There was a demonstration of the RUNSAFER system (running shoes of KELME + measuring device) available in the stand of Franhoufer.
Read moreRUNSAFER Project was presented at 2nd Conference of Biomechanical Research Applied to Sports in the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Valencia (Spain). Forty people attended from the Scientific Community. The oral presentation was focused on the tests with runners and their results.
Read moreAfter two years of project, the RUNSAFER consortium has ready the development of a prototype of a measuring system integrated in the midsole of KELME running shoes. The system is capable to measure the main biomechanical parameters to characterize the runner profile. The data are wireless transmitted to the runner’s mobile phone where the RUNSAFER app analyzes them in real time to detect a possible risk of injury. The RUNSAFER system is completed by a website, which provides training plan personalization according to the profile and level of runners.
Read moreLast 27th of October the project coordinator Dr. Juan Carlos González presented the main results of RUNSAFER in a radio program of CADENA SER (Spanish radio station). In the interview, Juan Carlos was talking about the current problems of the runners to get injuried and the potential benefits of this system regarding injury prevention.
Read moreAfter two years of technical work, the project final meeting of RUNSAFER took place on 24th October in IBV facilities (Valencia, Spain). During the meeting, the main results of the project were illustrated. IPMS was presented the final prototype of the measuring system to obtain the main biomechanics data of the runner. IBV and KELME presented the integration of the measuring system in the running shoe, the tests carried out with runners as well the algorithms to estimate the risk of injury. Finally, EII showed the work done about the data transmission between the measuring system and the mobile phone as...
Read moreRUNSAFER system has been tested in real conditions by an experienced runner in the competition IV Volta a Peu a les Fallas of Valencia (Spain) on Sunday October 5. The popular race has crossed the main streets of the city centre with a total length of 6.152 meters. This test has allowed recording the main biomechanical parameters of the runner through RUNSAFER system. Furthermore, the comfort of the running shoes has been successfully tested by the runner. The analysis of the data gathered will be used for the final validation of the system and make the necessary adjustments of RUNSAFER system.
Read moreOnce established the first version of the specifications in Work Package 1, the RUNSAFER consortium has carried out a set of tests with runners with the aim of validating the system and making the necessary adjustments. More than 25 runners of different runners’ associations have participated in the tests in an athletic track, under controlled conditions. With an initial version of RUNSAFER system, the biomechanical variables of the runner have been monitored while running to be later analyzed.
Read moreOn 26 February 2014, the RUNSAFER partners met for the 4th periodic progress meeting hosted by Fraunhofer IPMS partner in Dresden. Over one day the partners took stock of the achievements to date and exchanged about the work to be delivered in the coming period of the project. At this stage of the project, IPMS has designed and manufactured a version of the measuring system capable to measure and record the row data of the biomechanical parameters of runners. This version of the measuring system will be soon used by IBV to carry out biomechanical test with runners in real workouts with the aim of...
Read moreInstituto de Biomecánica (IBV) stand in ISPO MUNICH, the leading international platform for the sport business elite fair, was showing the objectives and the future product of RUNSAFER project. ISPO is considered the leading international sports business network. Every year, more than 2,300 international exhibitors present their latest products from the segments of Outdoor, Ski, Action and Performance Sports at ISPO MUNICH to over 80,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.
Read moreAt this current time, IBV is working to provide complementary materials for runners. These materials will be later included in the web portal of the RUNSAFER system. Some of these contents will be: Recommendations to warm-up and cool down. Recommendations to improve the running technique. Guidelines for nutrition. Injury prevention on healthy runners through recommendation exercises. The contents are being carried out by Doctors, Physiotherapists and Graduates in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. Furthermore, to facilitate their understanding, the contents will be supported by pictures and videos.
Read moreRUNSAFER Mid-term Meeting (3rd Project Meeting) took place on 11th October 2013 in Edinburgh, hosted by DUKOSI. The meeting was attended by all members of the consortium (DUKOSI, NUROMEDIA, KELME, EII, IPMS and IBV), having the opportunity to meet again after the six month meeting and discussing the work performed during this period, as well as fix the next steps to follow. The first part of the meeting focused on performed work. Advances from each Work Package were presented and generated discussions about (a) Sensors & Microelectronics of the measurement system.
